Westbound I-70 in Aurora shut down Thursday morning because of an accident

Westbound Interstate 70 in Aurora is closed Thursday morning due to a crash near Peña Boulevard, according to police.

Westbound Interstate 70 in Aurora is closed on Thursday morning due to a crash near Peña Boulevard, according to police.

The westbound lanes of I-70 shut down from exit 283 for Chambers Road around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a statement from the Aurora Police Department. There is no estimate on when the interstate will reopen.

Commuters should expect delays due to the crash, which occurred around exit 284 for Peña Boulevard, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

No additional information on the crash was available.
