Authorities are looking for an important witness in a stranger assault in Richmond.

The Richmond police are trying to find a crucial witness who can assist in the investigation of a stranger assault.

On Feb. 14, 2023, in the 6400-block Buswell, the police were approached for what seemed to be a medical emergency. It was then discovered that a woman had been allegedly assaulted.

Shortly after, another woman reported being assaulted around the same time and place. The authorities confirmed that the two assaults were connected.

Since then, a suspect has been arrested and charged, but the police are still searching for a crucial witness. Recently, the Richmond RCMP released traffic camera footage of the witnesses they want to speak to.

Insp. Michael Cohee said, “We have exhausted all internal avenues to identify this potential witness which is why we are releasing this video to the public. To the person in this video, you may not even know it, but you may have valuable information that will help advance this investigation. We are asking you to come forward and speak with us.

The alleged assaults occurred on Buswell, between Cook and Saba roads in the mid-morning hours of Feb. 14, 2023. The police are asking anyone who may have been in the area or who may recognize the witness in the surveillance footage to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2023-4877.
