Longtime Denver news reporter Rick Sallinger passed away from natural causes

Rick Sallinger, a CBS news reporter in Denver for 30 years, died on Wednesday night.

Rick Sallinger, a reporter who worked for CBS News for more than 30 years in Denver, died on Wednesday evening.

“Rick passed away peacefully on Wednesday night. We are devastated,” Sallinger’s family stated on social media Thursday. “For 30 years he was a dedicated journalist in Denver. He enjoyed every moment of it.”

The 74-year-old passed away from natural causes, CBS verified on Thursday. He is survived by his two sons — Marc and Eric Sallinger — and his wife of 30 years, Isabel.

Sallinger retired just five months ago in December, due to undisclosed health issues that were covered by disability insurance.
