The head coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have added another former Pittsburgh defender to their team this offseason.

Dayon Hayes announced on Sunday that he will be playing for the Buffaloes as a defensive lineman.

Hayes expressed his commitment to the Buffs with the message “I WANT IT ALL #SkoBuffs” on X.

Having played at Pitt for four seasons, Hayes appeared in 39 games and started 12. He will be a fifth-year senior at CU, taking advantage of the bonus year given to all players due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

While at Pitt, he recorded 81 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks.

After being a reserve player for his first three years, Hayes started 11 games in the last season, achieving career highs in tackles (45), TFLs (10.5), and sacks (4). He also managed four passes defended and a forced fumble.

In 2020, Hayes was a highly rated recruit from Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, receiving four stars. His Pitt bio describes him as “the Pittsburgh City League’s most celebrated recruit in at least two decades.”

During his senior year of high school, he had 23.5 sacks and 49.5 in his last two years.

At CU, Hayes will be playing with his former Pitt teammate Samuel Okunlola, who also joined the Buffs in January.
