Cavuto questioned Thomas Massie about another Republican calling the Speaker removal attempt a 'clown show'

Neil Cavuto confronted Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) Saturday about a fellow Republican denouncing the “clown show” effort to oust the House Speaker.

Fox News’ Neil Cavuto confronted Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) Saturday with comments from fellow Republican Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) denouncing the effort to oust Republican Speaker Mike Johnson as a “clown show.”

Massie joined reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) this week in calling for the most recent Republican Speaker to step down for a variety of reasons, including working with the Democrats to pass a foreign aid bill.

Cavuto played the clip of Lawler earlier on the show trashing the move as “a continuation of the clown show.”

Lawler continued, “Speaker Johnson, like speaker McCarthy before him, is doing the right thing by putting critical legislation on the floor in favor of the American people, and in favor of America’s role in the world.”

Cavuto said, “So, he’s saying you’re part of a clown show. I wanted to give you the opportunity to respond.”

“One thing about, you know, we need to remind Mike Lawler is, he led the effort to get rid of George Santos,” Massie said. And I think that was a bit of a…unwise, very unwise move. It shrunk our majority and we saw that seat replaced by a Democrat. So, I don’t think he’s got the best take on what we need to be doing here in Congress to keep our majority.”

Cavuto asked, “There is a big difference between someone like a George Santos, a serial liar, and Mike Johnson, whatever your differences? Right? I mean, a slight difference.”

“Well, the thing is, George Santos wasn’t convicted of anything — we threw him out. And I would rather have a Republican with a cloud over than a Democrat in that seat because it, frankly, the majority, you know, relies on it, and Mike Lawler got rid of George Santos. Mike Johnson was part…Mike Johnson did nothing to stop that effort and I think that’s another reason Mike Johnson needs to go,” Massie said.
