Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) posted a message on Friday to acknowledge the start of Passover next week and share his views on the Israel-Hamas war.
Fetterman wrote on his X account, known for his direct political messages, that he is committed to speaking about the tragedy and believes that true lasting peace can only come when the hostages are returned home, particularly as Passover approaches.
Fetterman also stated that 'Hamas is entirely to blame for this terrible situation and has the power to end it. They should release all the hostages and surrender.' He shared a video of himself making similar comments in front of a wall in his office covered with posters representing hostages still in Hamas custody.
I’m here in my office and all of these hostages, they’ve been up on our walls for over six months, and that’s exactly where they’re going to stay until everyone is brought back home. And I’ll never understand why we’re not talking about that more, and why there’s not more stories about that in the media.
We don’t even know exactly where they are and if they are even okay. It’s very clear that we always make sure that we always talk about this and demand that and make sure until every last one is accounted for and brought back home. Because anyone [who] wants peace, we have to do this. And remember that if Hamas would just send everybody home and surrender all of the death, destruction and misery in Gaza would end right now. Our office will never stop talking about this until everyone is brought back home.
Fetterman’s position on the Israel-Hamas war has caused disagreement with many in the progressive wing of his party. odds Progressives have moved away from President Joe Biden due to his strong support of Israel. The campaign in Gaza against Hamas has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, including many civilians, and has caused a humanitarian crisis with over a million people displaced. With a somber Passover approaching, I remain committed to speaking about this travesty and acknowledge there can't be true lasting peace until the hostages are home.
We must never forget Hamas owns this entire catastrophe and can end this.
Send them all home and surrender. https://t.co/3gxjnetJ8c pic.twitter.com/6Ov701x6xW
