Erratic driver caught after traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 1, says Abbotsford police

The driver of a Chevy Cruze was finally stopped after a dangerous trip from Surrey to Marshall Road in Abbotsford

Police are looking for people who saw and recorded a driver's crazy weekend trip from Surrey to Abbotsford. The trip ended with an arrest instead of a possibly horrible crash.

Surrey RCMP received reports about a reckless driver in a red 2016 Chevrolet Cruze at around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The Chevy was driving east on 100th Avenue near 148th Street. Abbotsford police Const. Artur Stele said that multiple people reported the car going very fast, swerving all over the road, and ignoring several red lights in a news release on Tuesday.

Stele said, “People kept telling the Surrey RCMP that the car was heading north on 160th Street towards Highway 1.”

As the Chevy got to the Trans-Canada Highway, it was supposedly driving east in the westbound lanes. The police couldn't see the car.

More than 90 minutes later, Abbotsford police got reports of the same Chevy driving east in the westbound lanes in the 33500-block of Marshall Road.

Finally, officers saw the car and arrested the driver.

Stele asked people who were driving in the Surrey area, on Highway 1, or on Marshall Road in Abbotsford around that time on Sunday, and who saw the dangerous driving or have dashcam footage, to contact the local police.
