People in Colorado who want travel suggestions don't have to travel far to visit the best place in the country.
That's what Men's Journal revealed this week when it published its list of the 50 best vacation destinations for 2024. Ouray was named the number one must-visit place, beating out cities like Denver, which came in at number 18. Men's Journal considered various factors such as geographic range, cultural diversity, city and state parks, culinary awards like Michelin, unique attractions, and ease of getting around each destination to create the list. They also looked at the overall value of a visit and the level of adventure.
Ouray is known for its outdoor activities, according to the publication. The editors compared visiting Ouray to being in an active outdoor gear commercial, given its alpine scenery and focus on outdoor activities like rock climbing, via ferrata routes, and ice climbing on frozen waterfalls.Men's Journal suggested visiting Box Cañon Falls Park and Cascade Falls for outdoor adventure, and relaxing at Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa & Lodgings. They also recommended trying the food and drinks at the newly restored Western Hotel, Ouray Brewery, and Thai Chili Ouray.
Chattanooga, Tennessee, San Luis Obispo, California, New Orleans, and Bend, Oregon, rounded out the top five vacation destinations in that order.
