Spring luncheon for raising funds for Peoples Library

Peoples Library will hold its yearly spring luncheon fundraiser on April 27 at the Banquet on Barnes event center at Knead Community Café, 1011 Barnes St., New Kensington.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and a buffet lunch will be served at 1:30. There will be a basket raffle, gift card and lottery trees, a bake sale and 50-50.

Tickets cost $40. For tickets, go to peopleslibrary.org, or visit the Lower Burrell or New Kensington locations. Ticket deadline is April 15.


Wildflower identification class planned

The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek, Bethel Township, will offer a no-cost class to identify wildflowers of Western Pennsylvania at 1 p.m. Saturday at the center, 142 Kerr Road.

Master Naturalist Susie Moffett will teach how to use identification tools such as Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide and then the group will head outside.

Bingo fundraiser to benefit Zen Cat Sanctuary

Speed Family Blessing Box & Pantry, 1702 Fifth Ave., Arnold, will host a bingo fundraiser at 1 p.m. Saturday at the pantry to benefit Zen Cat Sanctuary in New Kensington.

Admission is $10. Food and drinks will be for sale and there will be specials, giveaway tickets and a 50-50 raffle.

Saturday : Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company will sponsor a designer purse gala from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 6 at the firehall ballroom, 290 Horne St. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $50, and it includes appetizers, drink, dessert, and two numbers for the drawings. There will also be side raffles, a basket raffle, pull tickets, specialty drinks, and a cash bar. The winner does not need to be present, but ticket holders must be at least 16. Springdale

Saturday: The Knotty Knitters group at Springdale Free Public Library will meet at noon at the library, 331 School St. The group meets on the first and third Saturdays of the month. Vandergrift  

Sunday: TinyCause animal shelter will host a vaccination clinic for cats and dogs from noon to 4 p.m. at the shelter, 131 Columbia Ave. The cost is $10 for rabies for cats or dogs, $15 for 3-year rabies with previous year’s shot verification, $15 for DHPP that protects against various canine diseases, and $15 for FVRCP feline combination vaccine. Only cash will be accepted. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier.

Tuesday: A Creative-A-Tea party will be at 6 p.m. at the Vandergrift Public Library, 128C Washington Ave. Create a pressed flower lantern, enjoy tea, and have some cookies. Reservations are required. Reservations: 724-568-2212.

April 13: A drag queen bingo to benefit TinyCause animal shelter will be at 7 p.m. at The Center on Franklin Avenue, 262 Franklin Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be a basket raffle, strip tickets, and a 50-50 raffle. The cost is $35 in advance, $40 at the door, and it includes eight regular games that pay $100 each, specials, soft drinks, and food. Bring your own drinks, and you must be at least 21. Washington Township

Friday: The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold a bingo event at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 4078 Route 66. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and sales will start at 6 p.m. Free coffee will be served and the kitchen will be open. Players must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by an adult.

Winfield

Today: The Matrona Family Resource Center at Cabot Church, 707 Winfield Road, will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. They will provide new and gently used children’s clothing in sizes preemie through 10/12, along with strollers, car seats, toys, and more.
