Pirates have added Joey Bart to their team by putting Jason Delay, the injured catcher, on the injured list

Pittsburgh Pirates decided to place Jason Delay, their injured catcher, on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. This allowed them to create space for newly added catcher Joey Bart on the team's active roster.

Pittsburgh Pirates took catcher Jason Delay out of the game due to right knee inflammation. This allowed them to make space for newly acquired catcher Joey Bart on the team roster.

In the Pirates’ 9-7 win against the Miami Marlins on Sunday, Jason Delay did not get any hits out of 3 attempts but did manage a walk and a sacrifice. This was his only game this season. The decision was effective from Monday.

The Pirates got Joey Bart from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for right-handed pitcher Austin Strickland and a 2023 eighth-round pick.

In 2018, the Giants selected Bart with the No. 2 overall pick in the MLB Draft. A right-handed batter, Bart achieved .219/.288/.335 with 16 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs, and 38 RBIs in 162 games over four seasons in San Francisco.

Last season, Bart played in both the major and Triple-A Sacramento leagues. He got .207 with five doubles and five RBIs in 30 games with the Giants and .248/.357/.393 with 12 doubles, six homers, and 28 RBIs with the River Cats. Bart was designated for assignment on Sunday.
