A 13-year-old driver completely destroyed a powerful Lamborghini Huracan in West Vancouver

Police say the expensive sports car was a complete loss, but the teenage driver and a friend riding along were unharmed

As explained briefly by West Vancouver police, a 13-year-old was given the keys to a high-powered sports car but lacked the driving skills.

A teenager chose to joyride in a Lamborghini Huracán with a friend, and it ended badly.

At approximately 11 p.m. on March 25, the police were summoned to a car crash involving just one vehicle on the Trans Canada Highway. They discovered the expensive Lambo wrecked in a ditch with no one inside.

“Officers conducted a thorough search to confirm the safety of the driver and any passengers,” stated West Van police Sgt. Chris Bigland in a news release on Tuesday. “With the cooperation of the car owner, we were quickly able to find and speak to the car's occupants, who were unharmed.”

The 13-year-old had been driving, but the super-powered car turned out to be too much to handle.

“The young person and a friend opted to take the car for a spin but struggled to control it in the dark and rainy conditions,” explained Bigland. “Although significant damage to property occurred, we are thankful that no one was injured in the accident.”

As is evident from photos released by the police, the expensive ride was completely destroyed.

Authorities state that the driver has been accused of speeding, driving without due care, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving without a license.

Considering that this year's models of the car are priced from $250,000 to $350,000, and even a used customized Huracán from the past few years can be sold for $350,000 to $500,000, there are likely to be a few other consequences at home.
