Officials in Allegheny County are trying to find out who the man seen at the Rustic Ridge home was, days before the explosion that caused fatalities

The authorities in Allegheny County are asking for assistance from the public in identifying a man related to their investigation of the fatal Rustic Ridge house explosion in Plum last year.

The authorities in Allegheny County are requesting the community's assistance in identifying a man who is linked to their inquiry into the deadly house explosion on Rustic Ridge in Plum last year.

On Monday, the Allegheny County Police released images from a doorbell camera showing a white man with a white beard on the porch of Paul and Heather Oravitz’s home on Rustic Ridge Drive.

According to Kasey Reigner, a spokesperson for the Allegheny County Department of Emergency Services, the pictures were captured just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Although the man is not suspected of any unlawful activity, authorities are struggling to identify him and believe he might have information that could assist in the ongoing investigation, as per county police's posts on X, formerly Twitter.

Kasey Reigner mentioned, “We do not believe this gentleman is connected to the home explosion in any way, but hoping he can help answer some questions.”

The Oravitz residence exploded on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 12, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including Paul and Heather Oravitz.

The man was dressed in a baseball hat, an orange or rust colored shirt, blue jean shorts and black shoes with black socks.

Those with relevant information are urged to contact the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s office at 412-473-2631 or the county police tip line at 833-255-8477.
