AT&T, the American telecom operator, disclosed that the personal data of 73 million of its customers was leaked.

According to the announcement, two weeks ago, individualized details of 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former subscribers, such as Social Security numbers, were discovered on the dark web.

“At this time, AT&T does not see any signs of unauthorized access to its systems that would lead to the extraction of the data set. The company is proactively engaging with those affected by (the leak),” the statement said.

It is believed by experts that the database uncovered on the darknet is from 2019. AT&T is unable to confirm whether the leak originated internally or through a dealer network.
