A Denver designer is selling her home in Bow Mar for $4 million

After Andrea Schumacher bought her 6,00-square-foot home in Bow Mar for $1.3 million in 2014, she turned it into a showcase for her designs.

Andrea Schumacher purchased a 6,00-square-foot home in Bow Mar for $1.3 million in 2014, and then transformed it to display her designs.

She's now selling her five-bedroom, five-bath home on the 5400 block of Sunset Drive for $4 million.

Schumacher, who has interior design showrooms in Denver and Santa Barbara, bought a 5,396-square-foot midcentury modern house on Dahlia Street for $3.9 million on March 1, according to property records. The house has seven bedrooms and six baths.

The Bow Mar home, built in 1959, was extensively remodeled by Schumacher and includes unique details such as Calcutta marble countertops, Grasscloth walls, a butler's pantry with wine and beverage refrigerators, and an instant hot water faucet. She also updated most of the lighting and flooring, and added a gym with a rubber floor and a surround sound theater in the finished basement.

Schumacher, known for her book “Vibrant Interiors: Living Large at Home,” suggested a new owner may want to simplify the home's design.

However, listing agent Ryan Carter with 8z argued that Schumacher's design is a selling point for the home.

He said, “The richness and sophistication of the design are an asset, a value-add for the next buyer.”

“Her immense interior design talent is all over this property, and the next buyer will have the advantage of getting that as well as the property.”

Bow Mar, a small town near Littleton, is popular for its architecture and family-friendly environment. Resident amenities include a private lake for swimming, boating, fishing, tennis courts, parks, and community events.

Schumacher described it as a golf-cart community and the perfect place to raise teens.

“It’s a very family-oriented place,” she said. “For me, it was all about raising kids in an old-school way.”

Carter likened living in the neighborhood to being at an all-inclusive resort. “You have all these activities. It’s like you’re on vacation.”
