Every year, the Way of the Cross play is acted out on Friday in the downtown area of Greensburg.
The reenactment shows the story of Jesus in the time before he was crucified — being forcefully taken through the streets of Jerusalem by Roman soldiers. The event began with Jesus’ trial in front of Pontius Pilate. After being sentenced, he was escorted by the guards through the city streets.
People dressed in biblical clothing portrayed characters such as Pontius Pilate, Roman soldiers, the Virgin Mary, female followers of Jesus, and Jewish religious leaders.
The play was supported by the Greensburg Ministerium.
