Abbey Ellis scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, and made four assists to help Purdue win 71-50 against Duquesne on Thursday, ending Duquesne's season in the Women’s NIT round of 16.
Sophomore Jerni Kiaku scored 19 points for Duquesne. Megan McConnell, a junior from Chartiers Valley, achieved her 10th double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second quarter, Purdue scored 8 consecutive points to take a 29-22 lead at halftime after the score was tied at 11-11 after the first quarter.
Kiaku made a steal and a jumper to bring Duquesne within six points with 1:26 left in the third quarter, but Purdue then pulled away. Duquesne shot a season-low 28.1% from the floor.
Duquesne finished the season with a 21-13 record, marking its first 20-win season since 2019-20.
Purdue with a 15-18 record, will play against the winner of Friday’s game between Colgate and Vermont in the round of 8 next week.
