An international United flight bound for Paris was diverted to Denver on Thursday after the crew reported trouble with one of the plane’s engines.

An international United flight bound for Paris was redirected to Denver on Thursday due to issues with one of its engines.

United Flight 990 — a Boeing 777-200 — was flying north over the Canadian border during its trip from San Francisco to Paris when it changed course, heading for Denver International Airport, according to FlightAware tracking data.

The flight was canceled after landing in Denver, United spokesperson Russell Carlton said Friday. The plane landed safely and passengers disembarked normally.

Emergency services were on standby for the plane’s arrival but were not necessary, Carlton said.

United was assisting customers on Friday to offer them new flight options, Carlton said. The plane had 273 passengers and 12 crew members on board.
