A man in his 40s from Witham was apprehended on Thursday after the passing of Gogglebox star George Gilbey, who passed away following a fall at his workplace in Essex.
The incident took place in Showbuyness, Southend-on-Sea, and led to an immediate response from emergency services, including an air ambulance, but they were unable to save Gilbey.
Following the event, both Essex Police and the Health and Safety Executive initiated an inquiry, leading to the arrest of a man on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
The announcement of Gilbey’s passing shocked both fans and fellow 2014 Celebrity Big Brother participant Ricci Guarnaccio on X.

Others in the entertainment industry also paid their respects, including Daniella Westbrook and Nadia Essex.
Channel 4 released a statement, expressing their condolences to Linda and George’s loved ones and asking for privacy.
Gilbey became well-known on Channel 4’s reality show Gogglebox, featuring alongside his parents. After briefly joining Celebrity Big Brother as a participant in 2014, he took a break from Gogglebox before returning from 2016 to 2018.
