Vail’s “My Epic” app will be improved by AI next season

Upon its launch, My Epic Assistant will utilize AI and what Vail Resorts calls “resort experts” to provide immediate responses to inquiries about on-mountain conditions, grooming reports, lunch options, the location of rentals and ski schools, and other resort services.

Vail Resorts is going to introduce a new feature in its My Epic app next season that uses advanced artificial intelligence to respond to visitors' inquiries about ski conditions, dining choices, and other aspects of mountain operations.

The new service, called “My Epic Assistant,” will be offered during the 2024-25 ski season at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone, and there are plans to expand it to other resorts in the following seasons.

Chris Smith, chief information officer at Vail Resorts, mentioned in a news release, “For more than a decade, we have been dedicated to enhancing the guest experience through the use of innovative technology. With the recent advancements in AI, we see an opportunity to provide real-time guest service so skiers and riders can navigate their day at our mountain resorts with confidence, efficiency and ease.”

One of the previous technological enhancements to the Epic Pass included the ability to download season passes and lift tickets to cellphones.

When it is launched, My Epic Assistant will use AI and what Vail Resorts refers to as “resort experts” to address real-time inquiries about on-mountain conditions, grooming reports, lunch options, the location of rentals and ski schools, and other resort services.

According to the news release on Monday, “My Epic Assistant will provide skiers and riders with a user-friendly platform to ask questions, receive reliable responses, and make the most of their skiing and riding experience.”

In the coming years, Vail Resorts intends to greatly expand the My Epic Assistant technology to offer proactive, personalized recommendations and reminders based on an individual’s unique itinerary and preferences, and also provide constant booking and itinerary support.
