Olivia Munn says she found out she had breast cancer and had both of her breasts removed

Olivia Munn recently announced she had breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. She thanked her doctors and encouraged her fans to assess their own risk.

Olivia Munn recently shared that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy. She thanked her doctors and encouraged her fans to evaluate their own risk.

The 43-year-old actress posted on Instagram on Wednesday, expressing gratitude for catching the cancer early and sharing photos and a video of her treatment at a hospital.

Munn explained that she took a genetic test in February 2023 to check for 90 different cancer genes, and the results were negative. However, her doctor calculated her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score which she believes saved her life.

After receiving a high score, Munn underwent a biopsy which revealed she had an aggressive form of cancer in both breasts. She had a double mastectomy 30 days after the biopsy and has had four surgeries in the last 10 months. She explained that she kept it quiet at first because she needed time to process everything.

Munn expressed gratitude towards her family and friends, especially her partner, comedian John Mulaney, for their support before and after her surgeries, as well as her son Malcolm, whose photos were placed by her bedside each time she woke up.

Munn was a reporter on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and has appeared in films such as “Magic Mike,” “The Predator,” “Office Christmas Party,” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
