Adam Memije and Zidaan Hassan from Gateway, who won the WPIAL Class 3A doubles title last year, faced each other in the Section 1-3A singles finals on Thursday. Memije won with scores of 6-2, 6-4.

The last Gateway swim in the final event of the last day of the PIAA swimming championships at Bucknell University led to a podium finish and a state medal.

Six of seven starters returned from last year’s Gateway boys tennis team, which secured the program’s first WPIAL title since 1988 and progressed to the PIAA Class 3A semifinals.

Hunter Raymer, an 11th grader at Gateway, finished the swimming season by earning two medals at the PIAA Class 3A championships on March 13-14 at Bucknell University.
