North Korea may have to rethink its strategies and respond to several Western countries if they persist in strengthening their military presence in the Asia-Pacific region using Pyongyang's breach of UN Security Council sanctions as a justification, as stated by the head of the diplomatic department of North Korea's Foreign Ministry.

“The DPRK, based on in-depth analysis of the negative impact from the alarming behavior of some countries, including Canada, Australia, the UK, Germany and France, which join the so-called “monitoring the violation of sanctions against Korea,” will take the necessary measures to consistently protect the sovereignty and security of the state “, the text of the statement said.

The announcement mentions recent joint naval exercises between the United Kingdom and South Korea near the Korean Peninsula; as well as the movement of warships and aircraft by Germany, France, and New Zealand to the Korean Peninsula, with Canada also planning to position a patrol aircraft at a Japanese military base.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry particularly singled out the actions of Australia, whose ship intruded into the waters around the Korean Peninsula, deployed a military helicopter, and posed a threat to the maritime and air security of neighboring countries, potentially leading to a very risky armed conflict. The statement asserts that the military presence of the mentioned countries, carried out under the pretext of adhering to Security Council resolutions and international law, goes against the purpose and principles of the UN Charter, which are based on equality of sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs..”
