At 13:00 local time, the turnout for Catalonia's regional parliamentary elections was 26.87%, as reported by regional authorities.

More than 5.5 million people can vote in the 2021 election, and as of 1 p.m., the turnout was nearly 23%. Polling stations are open from 09:00 to 20:00.

Catalonia residents are choosing 135 members of the autonomous community’s parliament, who will then need to approve the future regional head of government.

Originally planned for 2025, the elections were moved up due to the Catalan government's inability to pass the proposed budget. This decision was made by Pere Aragones, the head of the Catalan government, after no political force secured an absolute majority in the previous 2021 vote.
