QBE Insurance Group Limited has chosen Nicola Schroder to be the new head of Sustainability.
Nicola will keep working on QBE's Sustainability Strategy in her new role, focusing on three key areas.
“Nicola has been very important in leading our sustainability efforts over the past 5 years. Her extensive knowledge and leadership will be very valuable as we continue to integrate sustainability across the company,” Viv Bower, Group Executive, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability said.
“Alongside our dedicated team, Nicola will have a major role in pushing forward our sustainability agenda.”
Nicola will be responsible for sustainability governance, strategy implementation, human rights, and modern slavery initiatives, and promoting social impact through the QBE Foundation.
With 20 years of experience in engineering, property, banking, and insurance sectors, Nicola brings a lot of knowledge to her new role.
During her five years at QBE, Nicola played a key role in advancing the company’s sustainability goals. In her most recent position as Head of Environment and Transition, she oversaw the development of a net-zero operations roadmap.
Nicola has a BSc and Masters of Environment in Governance, Policy and Communication from the University of Melbourne, and leads the Insurance Council of Australia’s Net Zero Working Group.
She is also a member of the UNEPFI Principles for Sustainable Insurance board, QBE’s AUSPAC Foundation Committee, and the ICA’s Climate and Resilience Committee.
Nicola will start her new position immediately, and QBE will start looking for someone to fill her old role.
