The company has released its first Community Impact Report, detailing its progress towards its goal of net-zero emissions and its efforts to support the communities it visits.

Royal Caribbean Group has issued its annual Seastainability Report, outlining the milestones it achieved in delivering responsible vacation experiences. The report highlights the company's commitment to sustaining the planet, energizing communities, and driving innovation through its SEA the Future initiative.

In 2023, Royal Caribbean Group made significant advancements toward its net zero vision, including achieving more than half of its carbon intensity reduction target and successfully testing biofuels in Europe. They also introduced the maritime industry's first waste-to-energy system onboard a ship.

The company's first Community Impact Report delves into the extensive work completed in 2023 to engage communities, celebrate its culture, and promote economic resilience in the destinations they visit.

Both reports highlight Royal Caribbean Group's progress in working towards a sustainable future.Highlights from the reports include:

Reducing carbon intensity by 6.8% and achieving over half of its double-digit reduction target.

  • Expanding the energy portfolio through successful biofuel trials that can be used without engine modification.Increasing local sourcing globally, which reduces miles traveled by 37% and supports communities while cutting emissions in certain regions.
  • Protecting marine species with an innovative genetic technology program for critically endangered sea turtles. Launching the Artist Discovery Program to feature local Caribbean artists on the company's newest ship, Icon of the Seas.
  • Providing unique training for Bahamian entrepreneurs participating in the Royal Caribbean Kickstarter Programme to empower local tourism-related businesses. Introducing the first accessible Star Class suite on Royal Caribbean International’s ship.
  • Helped Icon of the Seas Shellbank, Speeding up Innovation Launched theinitial at-sea waste-to-energy systems
