A Bovard man denied allegations he repeatedly sexually assaulted a young girl.

Jerry Boring, 60, testified in his own defense on Tuesday. He said the accuser, who is now 16 years old, made up the allegations. He also said the confession police claim he made the day before his arrest in 2022 was fabricated by authorities.

Boring is accused of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, and indecent assault based on claims by a teenager. The teen stated she was molested multiple times by the man starting in 2017.

A Westmoreland County jury is expected to start deliberations in the case against Boring on Wednesday.

The prosecution asserts that Boring was a friend of the accuser’s father.

The girl revealed the alleged sexual assaults while receiving care at an area behavioral health treatment center in 2022, according to witnesses.

“Jerry Boring admitted the allegations,” said Assistant District Attorney Katie Ranker in her opening statement to the jury. “Over five years, the victim remained silent, but she is finally going to have a voice.”

Boring was initially deemed incompetent to stand trial in May 2023, but later a judge ruled he was able to assist his defense. He testified Tuesday that he never confessed to sex crimes but just repeated allegations when questioned by police.

“I just repeated what he said to me. He was screaming in my ear and I told him I agreed with everything he said so he would stop yelling in my ear,” Boring testified. “Every time I heard his (the state police investigator’s) voice, I would just flip out.”

Boring, who is in custody on $100,000 bond, is also awaiting trial in an unrelated case where he is charged with arson and insurance fraud. Boring is also facing an unrelated case where he is accused of arson and insurance fraud.According to court records, police allege that Boring and another man set fire to a pickup truck in August 2022 and obtained $4,900 from an insurance company.
