One of the people who were killed in an Israeli airstrike was a volunteer from Britain who was part of the World Central Kitchen (WCK) team.

The group of volunteers who were killed in the attack included individuals from Australia, Poland, Palestine, and a person with dual citizenship from the US and Canada. They were part of a convoy bringing essential humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The two WCK-marked armored vehicles were attacked as they departed a warehouse in Deir al-Balah after delivering food aid to northern Gaza from a shipment that had arrived hours earlier. Red Crescent paramedic Mahmoud Thabet told the Associated Press that the car was hit just after entering northern Gaza. As a result of the attack, the charity has temporarily stopped its operations in Gaza.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated, “The IDF makes extensive efforts to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid and has been closely collaborating with WCK to provide food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.”

The Australian victim was identified by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Zomi Frankcom, a Michelin-star winning chef and founder of WCK, expressed his sorrow over the loss and called for an end to “indiscriminate killing.” as The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have announced that they have launched a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the targeted attack. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) say they have initiated a high-level investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the targeted attack. Their statement highlighted the ongoing collaboration with WCK to ensure the safe delivery of aid to Gaza’s besieged population.
