After stepping down from her role as chair of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel will join NBC News as a commentator.

The New York Times reported that McDaniel will make her NBC debut on this Sunday’s Meet the Press. Additionally, she will also appear on MSNBC during the 2024 election season.

An internal NBC memo quoted Carrie Budoff Brown, in charge of political coverage for NBC News, stating, “It’s a crucial moment to have Ronna’s perspective on the team,” highlighting her insight into national politics and the future of the Republican Party.

McDaniel announced that she was stepping down from her position as chair of the RNC in late February. She was replaced by co-chairs Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, and Michael Whatley.

Before resigning from the RNC, McDaniel became the subject of criticism by Trump and his supporters after several Republican election losses, even after McDaniel played a role in the scheme to overturn the 2020 election. In December 2023, a leaked call revealed that McDaniel assured two Michigan canvassers of legal representation if they declined to certify the election results in their state.
