B.C. farmers are assured monetary aid to combat drought

Premier David Eby and Agriculture Minister Pam Alexis will discuss the support to enhance farming conditions in the province on Monday morning.

Support is coming for B.C. farmers who are fighting against drought.

Premier David Eby and Agriculture Minister Pam Alexis will talk on Monday morning about the assistance aimed at improving farming conditions in the province.

Eby and Alexis had previously pledged $70 million to assist wine and fruit growers, allowing for a replant program to replace damaged, diseased, and low producing vines, plants, and trees with climate-resilient varieties.

Alexis stated last week that the government is supporting B.C. producers facing challenges from severe vine and orchard damage, pests, plant disease, and changing market demand.

The significant investment aims to help producers adapt to climate change, strengthen the economy, and ensure the longevity of B.C. fruit and wine.

The announcement will take place in Delta at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Stay tuned for updates.
