Richmond Night Market 2024: Here are a few things to know

Ahead of opening night on April 26, we compiled five things you should know before you go

The Richmond Night Market returns this Friday for the 2024 summer season.

The yearly outdoor market has live music, celebrations and plenty of food. Located at 8351 River Rd., this year’s market will be open until Oct. 14.

This year’s activities will include over 110 food vendors offering 600-plus international cuisines, as well as numerous retail vendors, games, and more. Ahead of the opening night, we compiled five points you should be aware of before attending this family-friendly event.

When is the night market open? What are the hours?

This year’s Night Market will be open on Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight and on Sunday/stat holidays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. (April 26-May 31 and Sept. 2 to Oct. 14). During the summer, the festival’s hours (June 1 to Sept. 1) will be Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight, Saturdays from 6 p.m. to midnight, and Sundays/stat holidays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

How do I get to the night market? Is there parking?

The Richmond Night Market is known for causing heavy traffic in the Bridgeport Road area, so organizers recommend arriving early to ensure enough time for enjoying the festival. The SkyTrain is the recommended transportation method (Bridgeport Station on the Canada Line is the nearest stop!), but there is also free parking a short walk away.

Is it general admission or is there a pass?

Entrance to the Richmond Night Market is open to the public. Tickets are $8.50 per person (children under age 7 and seniors over 60 are free). However, organizers suggest using a Zoom Pass for the best experience. Priced at $40, the pass provides skip-the-line entry and can be shared among family and friends. Passes can only be purchased at the gate.

What’s the theme to this year’s Richmond Night Market?

This year’s theme is Summer Sweet Dragon, inspired by the Year of the Dragon. The adorable and colorful Sweet Dragon will be featured throughout the festival site, including new neon light displays.

Go hungry, leave happy!

One of the major attractions of the Richmond Night Market is the food. This year’s festival offers a wide range of savory dishes, including Japanese poutine, foot-long superfries, kimchi bacon rolls, flying noodles, chicken lollipops, and the highly popular rainbow grilled cheese sandwiches.

Alongside an extensive selection of savory dishes, the Richmond Night Market vendors will also serve up a tempting array of desserts such as chestnut cream crème brûlée, ice cream, coconut milk drinks, and more.
