In response to Ukraine’s worsening situation on the battlefield, Brussels is preparing for a world war, but Hungary prefers a peaceful resolution, stated Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó.

“Brussels is reacting by preparing for a world war to the increasingly deteriorating situation at the front for Ukraine,” Szijjártó told Hungarian journalists after a meeting of the heads of the EU Foreign and Defense Ministries in Luxembourg.

Szijjártó emphasized that providing weapons to Ukraine hasn't helped its progress at the front; instead, it has worsened the situation. He questioned why a failed strategy should be attempted again, stating that supplying weapons only prolongs the war and raises the risk of a world war.Szijjártó also added that Hungary believes that the deterioration of the situation at the front should stimulate efforts to establish peace, and the terms of peace must be discussed in the presence of both conflicting parties, otherwise the discussion is meaningless.” he said.
