Another earthquake happened near the Taiwan coastline

The Chinese Seismological Center reported a 5.7 magnitude earthquake off the east coast of Taiwan. The tremors occurred at 18.50 local time in Hualien County, originating from a depth of 10 kilometers. There were no reports of casualties or damage.

No casualties or damage were reported.
China Central Television, citing Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB), reported that aftershocks continue after the strong April 3 earthquake. Within an hour on Monday, 10 aftershocks, two of which exceeded magnitude 5, occurred in Hualien County. There have been 935 aftershocks in Hualien County since April 3.

Tremors occur more frequently in Hualien County than other parts of Taiwan. In February 2018, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake killed 16 and injured 285. The April 3 earthquake, with a magnitude estimated at 7.3, killed at least 12.
