The RCMP is looking into all possible leads to find and arrest a suspect in the stabbing incident near the White Rock pier on Sunday night.
Around 9 p.m., White Rock RCMP received a report of a stabbing near the pier. The victim, who is 28 years old, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The reason for the stabbing is not known yet, but the police think it might have been unexpected.
The investigators believe that the victim and the suspect did not know each other, and there was no confrontation before the incident, according to the police.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Rob Dixon mentioned that there were many people in the area at the time, and is asking witnesses or anyone who might have taken photos or videos to contact the police.
In a news release, he said, “Public safety is a priority, so we are asking the public to help us identify the suspect to prevent further incidents.”
On Sunday night, a section of the grassy area near the White Rock boulder near the pier was closed off with police tape. Officers were seen searching the area for evidence, and a police dog was used.
The suspect is described as a black man, wearing a baseball cap and a grey hoodie.
Anyone with information is urged to contact White Rock RCMP at 778-545-4800.
