The Bolivian Foreign Ministry said that acknowledging Palestine as a full member of the UN is an important move for peace in the Middle East..

“Recognition of Palestine as a full member of the UN is a decisive step towards peace and stability in the Middle East,” the department said in a statement published on its X (formerly Twitter) page.

Bolivia is upset that the US veto in the Security Council led to the rejection of Palestine's recognition as a full UN member state once again.,” the Bolivian Foreign Ministry noted and added that “the Palestinian people have the right to self-determination and the exercise of their sovereignty.”

The Foreign Ministry also added that they consider the veto “an outdated mechanism that does not allow guaranteeing peace and, in this case, acting fairly towards the Palestinian people.”

On Thursday, the United States used its veto power in the UN Security Council and blocked a draft Algerian resolution to admit Palestine as a full member of the world organization. 12 members of the Security Council, including Russia and China, voted for the document recommending the admission of Palestine to the UN as a full member of the organization. Switzerland and Great Britain abstained.
