Westmoreland County campus clippings: Belle Vernon graduate came in first place for Duquesne's track team

Hannah Seitzinger, a senior from Belle Vernon at Duquesne, secured victory in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.45 seconds and anchored the victorious 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:50.25 at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason.

Hannah Seitzinger, a senior at Duquesne and from Belle Vernon, finished the 400-meter run in 55.45 seconds and also led the 1,600-meter relay team (3:50.25) at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason.

Senior Sadie Wetzel from Latrobe placed third in the high jump at a height of 5 feet, 6 inches, while senior Emily Brozeski from Norwin came in fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.70 seconds.

Women’s track & field

Ohio Northern: Ashley Baker, a freshman from Derry, finished third in the triple jump at the Tiffelberg Open with a distance of 9.87 meters.

Men’s golf

Grove City: Junior Luke Kimmich from Franklin Regional tied for first place at the Geneva Spring Invitational at Seven Oaks Country Club in Beaver, scoring a 77. He was officially placed second after a scorecard playoff.

John Carroll: Wade Boyle, a freshman from Greensburg Central Catholic, shot a 72 to tie for eighth at the Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Preview at River Greens in West Lafayette, Ohio.

The next day, he participated in the Muskingum Zanesville Invitational and finished second with an even-par 140 (71-69) at Eaglesticks Golf Club. JCU won the team title by a stroke over Otterbein.

Notre Dame: Palmer Jackson, a graduate student from Franklin Regional, finished tied for fourth with a three-round total of 3-over-par 216 at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. Jackson scored an impressive 5-under 66 in the second round, achieving five birdies and an eagle. The Fighting Irish finished second overall.

Saint Vincent: Brevin Urso, a senior, shot an even-par 70 to win by two shots at the Thiel Invitational in Sharon. SVC finished second in the team standings.

Washington & Jefferson: Junior Cade Patterson from Penn-Trafford tied for 13th with a score of 78 at the Alvernia Spring Invitational at Ledge Rock Golf Club in Mohnton. The event was shortened to 18 holes due to bad weather.

Women’s golf

Westminster: Sophomore Liv Kana from Greensburg Central Catholic finished in 11th place with a score of 93 at the Grove City College Spring Invitational. The Wolverines won the team title.

Women’s lacrosse

Grove City: Freshman attacker Gwen Shilling from Franklin Regional scored a career-high six goals, including five in the first quarter, as the Wolverines defeated Saint Vincent, 20-0. Shilling added two goals and an assist in an 18-3 win against Bethany. She was named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Saint Vincent: Sophomores Bailey Nicely and Carolina Walters from Latrobe each scored five goals, and Madison Weber added four scores to lead the Bearcats (2-6, 1-2 PAC) to a 20-11 win over Waynesburg.

Seton Hill: Redshirt junior Skylar Orlowski was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week. She had 11 goals and five assists in two wins for the Griffins. Her seven goals against Gannon were a career high.

Men’s track & field

Cal (Pa.): Senior Mason Jobe from Greensburg Salem achieved a conference-qualifying time of 1:54.61 in the 800-meter run at the 58th annual Colonial Relays at William & Mary.

Grove City: Senior Gabe Dunlap from Penn-Trafford assisted the 400-meter relay team to a fourth-place finish at the Dave Labor Invitational.

Saint Vincent: Senior Tim Patterson won the 5K race at the Dave Labor Invitational in Slippery Rock with a time of 15 minutes, 5.6 seconds, winning by four full seconds.

Westminster: Graduate student Ryan Beard from Franklin Regional was selected as the PAC Athlete of the Week. Beard came in third place in the 200-meter dash, completing it in 22.38 seconds at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. His time is the best in the conference. Beard also secured fourth place in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 10.99 seconds at the Slippery Rock Invitational. Additionally, he was part of the 400-meter relay team that clinched second place with a time of 43.16.

Men’s tennis

Saint Vincent: Freshman Josh Havrilla from Latrobe earned the title of PAC Newcomer of the Week. He achieved a 3-0 record in a pair of victories for the Bearcats.

Men’s lacrosse

Seton Hill: Wade Brunelle, a sophomore, scored five goals and provided an assist, accumulating six points during the game. Junior Braedyn Lockyer also contributed with a hat trick as the Griffins (7-3, 4-1 GMAC) triumphed over Malone with a final score of 26-14.

Thiel: Senior John Robbins assisted, but the Tomcats were defeated by Allegheny, 23-9.

Washington & Jefferson: Senior Nate Petrarco from Norwin scored two goals and managed four assists. In addition, sophomore Braden Petrarco from Norwin added one goal, and junior Austin Hopkins from Hempfield recorded eight ground balls and four caused turnovers in a 17-9 win against Bethany. Hopkins received the title of PAC Defensive Player of the Week.
