Watering restrictions for lawns in Metro Vancouver will begin on May 1

Metro Vancouver expects reservoirs to be full by mid-May, with the current snowpack at 56 percent of the historical average.

The weather forecast predicts extended dry and hot periods for this spring and summer.

Metro is warning that a complete ban on lawn watering may be necessary if excessive outdoor water use continues in the coming months.

The goal this year is to avoid escalating restrictions for as long as possible, but it ultimately depends on residents' actions.
