Veteran journalist and cricket fan Piers Morgan teased South African cricket legend Kevin Pietersen after he left his watch and wedding ring at home during a Tuesday visit to London, expressing his fear of being targeted by criminals.
The 43-year-old sports star posted to X that he’d swapped his wedding ring for a plastic one and left his watch at home, criticizing London Mayor Sadiq Khan: “Gotta go into London today. NO WATCH and a plastic ring! Congrats, @SadiqKhan.”

Some praised the precaution, including former Brexit Party MEP Chrisina Jordan, who called London a “mugger’s paradise” and thanked Pietersen for “saying what many of us think.”
In response, Morgan joked, “Fears for Kevin. If anyone sees him, he’s 6ft 4in, built like a brick wall, spends half his time in the African bush surrounded by wild animals, and used to face 100 mph fast bowlers. Hope he survives his day trip to London.”
Fears for Kevin. 🤣

Others made fun of the cricket icon, who said his decision to go minimal on jewellery was “bizarre” and “embarrassing”, while some Londoners disagreed with the idea that their city was unsafe.
Pietersen’s fears were soon relieved, however, and in a later post he praised Khan and the “incredible” city of London, saying he’d was having “the most wonderful day.”
UPDATE!
In London and having the most wonderful day.
This city is absolutely incredible.
