The Kitsilano Pool and the adjacent Kitsilano Showboat will be available this summer.
The Vancouver park board received a positive report from staff on Monday night about the problematic pool and the burned-out showboat.
The city staff announced that the pool will open on the May Day long weekend and will stay open until the Labour Day long weekend.
The Kitsilano Showboat, which suffered fire damage in April 2023, will be open for summer performances.
Last December, the parks board was informed that the beloved Kitsilano pool was losing 30,000 liters of water per hour, which raised doubts about the future of the old waterfront asset.
In Monday's staff update, it was revealed that thorough investigation had identified two damaged pipes and failing expansion joints as the main causes of water loss, and that the pool could remain open until further repairs are carried out in the fall.
City staff are also seeking funding to enhance sea water treatment so that the pool does not have to rely on drinkable water. They are also hoping to secure funding for a new pool liner.
