No Labels’ national director told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto Thursday that would vote for President Joe Biden now that his group has said it will not launch a third-party candidate into the fray of the 2024 presidential election.
Cavuto pressed Joe Cunningham to name the candidate he’d vote for after Cunningham explained that No Labels is strictly a nonpartisan organization.
“You have two. Two prominent ones. And, maybe, Robert F. Kennedy. A choice among them, for you, as a person, what would you do?” Cavuto asked.
“Me, as a person? I would vote for Biden over Trump,” Cunningham said, declining to elaborate.
Earlier in the interview, Cavuto asked why No Labels was no longer considering putting forth a candidate like Nikki Haley (R-SC), Chris Christie (R-NJ), or Joe Manchin (D-WV).
“Let me say, it’s not for lack of trying,” Cunningham said, continuing:
The short answer is, that to field this ticket, No Labels was looking for a hero and a hero never emerged. We’ve been very straightforward and upfront and honest with the American public that we were gonna field this ticket if two conditions were met. Number 1, if Americans wanted another option, which is definitely, box is checked. And number 2, if we’re able to find candidates that we believe have a pathway to victory. And that’s where we ran into the trouble. At the end of the day, we weren’t able to find candidates we felt had a straightforward path of victory in this.
Cunningham said a No Labels candidate would have been bucking the establishment, which is difficult to do.
“The establishment does not reward dissent. So we found it difficult to find the leaders to step up with the courage to be able to say, ‘Ok, we are putting our country first, and, you know, damn the consequences within our respective parties.”
Cavuto asked who was on the short-list of contenders, but Cunningham wouldn’t disclose names.
“I’ll say that a lot of potential candidates that have been thrown out there, but we’ve only spoken to, and made offers to, only a fraction of those leaders. So, we’ve been very pragmatic,” Cunningham said.
“Were the couple that I mentioned among them, Joe?” Cavuto pressed.
“Some of them did have discussion, with leaders, within the organization. But, look, I’m not going to get in to talk about which candidates rejected or which ones we rejected.”
“Can you whisper it in my ear?” Cavuto asked, and they both laughed, but the answer was still no.
