GB News has named its inaugural US correspondent Steven Edginton as the network seeks to report on the upcoming presidential election and broaden its coverage.
Edginton previously was employed as a reporter for The Daily Telegraph and political blog Guido Fawkes before a period at The Sun. Edginton also served as Chief Digital Strategist for the Brexit Party.
While employed by the Brexit Party and working as a freelance journalist, Edginton gained prominence during an inquiry into the Civil Service after a “reliable source” shared with him private diplomatic cables that became the basis of a scoop published in the Mail On Sunday. The cables revealed UK ambassador Sir Kim Darroch criticizing then-President Donald Trump’s government as “inept.”
Because of his political affiliation at the time, he opted not to take credit and described the story as an “honest journalistic endeavor.” The reporting led to Darroch’s resignation.
In a press release about his new position, Edginton stated: “I’m excited to join GBNA during such a dynamic period in US politics. I aim to cover lesser-known stories that impact millions of Americans. We will go where other broadcasters are unwilling to go, and we will not avoid controversial subjects.”
Job news: I've joined GBN in Washington DC to make documentaries and interviews across the States. I plan to cover underreported stories impacting millions of Americans. We will go where other broadcasters dare not to, and we will not shy away from controversial issues. https://t.co/gcRxb4qdDj pic.twitter.com/YgugDihZN3

GB News’ move is viewed as a significant effort by the network to establish a strong presence in the US digital realm, just weeks after host Nigel Farage scored an exclusive interview with former President Trump, the Republican Party’s presidential candidate. Edginton’s appointment also follows GB News’ digital launch of GBN America.
Geoff Marsh, GB News’ chief digital officer, commented on the decision, saying: “America has always been our largest market outside the UK, both for British expatriates and for Americans who appreciate our British perspective on events there.”
Regarding Edginton, he remarked: “Steven is crucial to assisting us in developing GBN America into a truly competitive player in the world’s largest digital market with his impactful stories across numerous platforms. He’s an outstanding and extremely versatile journalist whose groundbreaking exclusive stories, videos, and documentaries have had a global impact.”
