Iranian journalist Pouria Zeraati was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday while the Metropolitan Police stated that the three individuals connected to his stabbing are believed to have successfully left the UK.
Zeraati, who works as a correspondent for Iran International TV, was attacked by two men outside his residence in Wimbledon and repeatedly stabbed on Friday, with a third person waiting in a getaway vehicle. The suspects later abandoned their car, and the police confirmed that all three made their way to Heathrow Airport and fled abroad.
Iran International reported that they have been facing “serious threats” for the past 18 months. The London-based channel provides independent news and commentary on Iran but has been branded as a terrorist organization by the Tehran government.
On the BBC Today last Saturday, a representative of the channel stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has been actively pursuing journalists and their family members. Mehdi Hosseini Matin, the Charge d’affaires for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the UK, informed the BBC that the country “denies any connection” to the attack.

The ongoing inquiry, led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, is collaborating with international partners to determine the current whereabouts of the assailants.
