Today, Octopus Energy introduces the first heat pump and solar referral program in the UK to support the adoption of clean heating technology and contribute to achieving net zero emissions
Since being introduced, Octopus has paid out nearly £100 million in referrals to customers – money going directly to people's pockets rather than energy switching platforms
This substantial amount has been divided between satisfied customers who recommended Octopus and new customers who signed up with the UK’s most recognized energy company
The payment to customers will increase significantly with the launch of its new heat pump and solar referral offer.
Individuals who receive a heat pump or solar system installation from Octopus can refer friends and family for their own installation. Referrers will receive £100, while those getting the tech installed will receive a £100 discount on fitting
Octopus Energy retail customers can receive a £100 credit on their account, while others will receive a widely-accepted e-voucher of the same value
This comes as the government reports a substantial increase in demand for heat pumps, with applications for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant rising by 75% in February compared to the previous year*.
Heat pumps are more affordable to install than gas boilers. The prices for Octopus Energy heat pumps start at £500, including the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant
According to Octopus data, households can save £222 a year by switching to a specialized heat pump tariff like ‘Cosy Octopus’ compared to using a boiler**.
