Ty Linsenbigler is returning to his hometown.
The former Hempfield standout wrestler is transferring from Lock Haven to compete at Seton Hill, where he will be back with his high school coach, Vince DeAugustine.
As a redshirt sophomore last season, Linsenbigler wrestled unattached and achieved a record of 16-9 with four major decisions and one pin. He held a 22-15 career record.
During his time at Hempfield, he had a 148-27 record and qualified for PIAA four times.
Baseball
Cal (Pa.): Luke Treloar, a sophomore from Franklin Regional, secured his first collegiate win by allowing just one base runner across three relief innings. The Vulcans (15-4) won 6-4 against Walsh.
IUP: Elijah Dunn, a freshman outfielder from Norwin, has a .267 batting average with six home runs and 21 RBIs for the Crimson Hawks. He has started 34 out of 35 games.
Pitt: In a 7-6 victory over No. 13 Virginia Tech, Norwin sophomore Jake Kendro hit his fourth home run of the season, one of three in the same inning for the Panthers.
Kendro’s homer traveled 411 feet.
Hempfield's redshirt sophomore Phil Fox pitched two scoreless innings and earned his second save for the Panthers (12-12, 2-9 ACC).
Pitt-Greensburg: The Bobcats (6-12) won both games of a doubleheader against Hilbert, with scores of 12-11 and 5-2, at Bobcat Park.
In Game 1, sophomore Ben Aftanas from Valley went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, while senior Mason Boehm and sophomore Hunter Gideons each contributed two RBIs.
Boehm hit a home run, Colin Solinski went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, and sophomore James Domer had two hits and two runs in the second game.
Domer also earned a save in both games.
Solinski was honored as the AMCC Athlete of the Week.
Seton Hill: After losing the first game of the series to Cal (Pa.), the Griffins responded with a walk-off win in the second game.
Senior Aidan Shephard from Norwin secured a game-winning double to score Joe Alcorn for a 6-5 victory.
Freshman Jakob Haynes from Penn-Trafford hit a three-run home run, while grad student Jack Oberdorf from Greensburg Salem, junior Max Mandler, junior Matt Frazetta, and Haynes each had two hits.
Hempfield's junior Christian Zilli, who has taken on a closer’s role, earned his fourth save. He pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, securing the win while allowing just one hit.
The Griffins won the third game of the series 3-1, bringing their overall record to 17-8 and 4-3 in the PSAC West.
Mandler sealed the win with a double in the seventh inning, and Norwin sophomore Jack Whalen had two hits, while senior Aidan Layton completed the game as the pitcher.

Thiel: Aidan Ochs, a sophomore from Belle Vernon, went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Tomcats in a 5-3 win against La Roche.
Washington & Jefferson: Ligonier Valley senior Ethan Boring obtained his first save of the season in an 8-5 victory over Saint Vincent in the second game of a doubleheader sweep.
Yale: Franklin Regional senior Jake Williams maintained a .274 average with a home run, seven runs, and four RBIs in 18 starts for the Bulldogs.
Williams took a gap year before beginning his college career. He has played in 79 games since, leading the team with 42 hits last year, tying for second with seven doubles, and securing 19 RBIs.
He had a 3-for-5 game earlier this season against UMBC.
Softball
Bloomsburg: Junior pitcher Callie Sowers (Hempfield) is on the Tucci/NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Year watch list, which recognizes the top softball student-athletes in D2.
She is one of 15 athletes represented in the Atlantic Region.
Sowers has a record of 12-2 this season with a 0.98 ERA (0.75 WHIP) and a team-leading 115 strikeouts against just 13 walks.
She pitched a one-hitter and struck out a career-high 16, as the Huskies (17-8, 6-2) blanked Kutztown, 3-0. It was her third shutout of the season.
Freshman Josie Straigis (Latrobe) had two hits and scored a run in the win.
Sowers earned the title of the PSAC East co-pitcher of the week.
Fairmont State: Junior Elizabeth Waskiewicz (Norwin) has a batting average of .378 through 23 games and has driven in 10 runs.
Pitt-Johnstown: Sophomore Mia Smith (Penn-Trafford) achieved a career-high 14 strikeouts and allowed five hits as the Mountain Cats won their first PSAC game of the season, 7-6 over Gannon.
Smith also had two hits, including an RBI single.
Sophomore Jenna Tallman (Latrobe) had a hit and scored a run.
Robert Morris: Redshirt sophomore Courtney Poulich (Mt. Pleasant) hit her first career home run as the Colonials edged IUPUI, 10-9.
Saint Francis (Pa.): Senior Ashley Orischak (Hempfield) hit a three-run home run as the Red Flash defeated LIU, 4-1.
Saint Vincent: Senior Haley Bicko pitched a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits and striking out five, as the Bearcats blanked Bethany, 1-0.
Senior Olivia Persin (Hempfield) singled and stole second, then scored on an error in the sixth inning for the only run.
SVC is 11-7 overall and 3-1 in the PAC.
Seton Hill: The Griffins won for the fifth time in six games, splitting a PSAC West doubleheader with Gannon with a 5-0 win in the second game.
Senior Logan Hartman allowed five hits and struck out a career high 11, without a walk, in the complete-game effort.
Senior Nina Grandey had three hits, while sophomore Kassidy Wittig and sophomore Abby Smearman had two hits apiece for Seton Hill (18-8, 6-2).
Grandey and grad-student teammate Morgan Toal, were named to the Tucci/NFCA Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist for the nation’s top softball student-athletes in D2.
They are among 15 players from the Atlantic Region to make the list.
Hartman was named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week.
Upike: Grad pitcher Carolyn Alincic (Mt. Pleasant) is 4-6 in the circle with a 2.47 ERA in 10 appearances. She leads the team with 79 strikeouts and has eight complete games.
Washington & Jefferson: Sophomore Hannah Allen (Penn-Trafford) hit a solo home run — her second of the season — but the Presidents fell to Westminster, 9-4.
Wrestling
Buffalo: Redshirt freshman Chase Kranitz (Norwin) has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
The move comes on the heels of a coaching change. John Stutzman is not returning as head coach.
Kranitz went 19-11 and finished third in the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Pitt-Johnstown: Redshirt sophomore and All-American 285-pounder Isaiah Vance (Hempfield) was named to the All-PSAC First Team.
Seton Hill: Sophomore Kane Kettering was named to the All-PSAC Second Team, while grad student William Burgess made the third team.
Kettering achieved an NCAA Super Regional championship at 174 pounds, earned a spot at nationals, and had a 19-13 record.
Burgess finished with a 26-8 record, secured third place at regionals, and advanced to the national tournament at 125.
Men’s track and field
Chatham: Junior E Kelly from Greensburg Salem came in 11th in the 3,000-meter race, clocking 9 minutes and 53.86 seconds.
Duquesne: Sophomore Joe Klanchar from Hempfield threw the javelin to a personal-best distance of 49.11 meters, securing seventh place at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
Westminster: Grad student Ryan Beard from Franklin Regional finished third in the 200-meter dash in 22.38 seconds at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
He also contributed to the fifth-place finish of the 400-meter relay team.
Women’s track and field
Clarion: Junior Leah Perry from Derry attained ninth place in the long jump, leaping a distance of 4.84 meters at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
Duquesne: Freshman Cydney Blahovec from Hempfield achieved ninth place in the 800-meter race at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, with a finishing time of 2 minutes and 21.29 seconds.
She also ran a leg of a third-place relay team.
Men’s volleyball
Penn State: Grad student John Kerr from Derry led the Nittany Lions with 12 kills and hit .320 in a 3-0 victory over Harvard.
Kerr added 15 kills and 10 digs for a double-double as PSU defeated Harvard again, 3-1.
Saint Vincent: Sophomore Shawn McSwiggen had 13 kills and two blocks, while fifth-year Matthew Minkin registered 10 kills and six assists and sophomore Zach Wyant added 30 assists as SVC triumphed over Mt. Aloysius, 3-0, for an AMCC sweep.
The victory secured the conference regular-season title for the Bearcats (17-7, 8-0), who will have the advantage of playing at home in the playoffs.
Men’s golf
Cal (Pa.): Senior Aidan Bushey from Derry shot a 7-over-par total of 151 to tie for 10th place at the Vulcan Fire Classic at Lone Pine Country Club.
Washington & Jefferson: Junior Cade Patterson from Penn-Trafford tied for ninth place at The Ruckus, a nine-team event at Williamsburg (Va.) National Golf Club.
Patterson finished with a 10-over-par total of 154 by shooting a pair of 77s.
Sophomore Chase Crissman from Penn-Trafford tied for 29th place with a score of 80-88-168.
Men’s lacrosse
Saint Vincent: Grad student Jordan Billet reached his 200th career points, scoring six (4 goals, 2 assists) in a 13-8 victory over Franciscan.
Only five other players in program history have accomplished this milestone.
Washington & Jefferson: Junior Austin Hopkins from Hempfield scored a goal but W&J lost to Allegheny, 17-7. He also contributed seven ground balls and two caused turnovers in the defeat.
Women’s lacrosse
Seton Hill: Grad student Makayla Kinter was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week. She aided the Griffins in securing two wins with 12 draw controls, seven caused turnovers, and seven ground balls.
Thiel: Freshman Makayla Flock from Greensburg Salem scored two goals and freshman Cassie Kaufman from Greensburg Salem added one as the Tomcats defeated Waynesburg, 18-1, in their PAC opener.
Women’s bowling
Saint Vincent: After a 64-14 season that included a trip to the AMCC semifinals, several Bearcats and their coach received postseason honors.
Sophomore Abby Justice was named to the All-AMCC First Team, while junior Sabine Strickland and freshman Skyy Nicholls made the second team, and freshman Daphne Stuber, senior Jackie Koehler, and senior Monique Koehler earned third-team honors.
Jeff Zidek was chosen as one of the two coaches of the year for AMCC.
SVC entered the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Division II/III poll and finished the year in 9th place.
