Representatives of the United States and Israel are having virtual talks on Monday about the potential beginning of a military operation in Rafah, as announced by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Monday.

“The parties will discuss the situation in Rafah, as well as further steps that Israel intends to take,” Jean-Pierre said.

As per her, these talks are a continuation of discussions at the military level, which started last week.

The White House spokesperson noted that Washington sees alternative ways to deal with the Hamas group as acceptable, which can help Israel avoid a full-scale military operation in Rafah.

“This is what our discussions will be about today, and we believe it is important that they take place as soon as possible,” Jean-Pierre added.
