Two teams in Class 3A moved around in the Week 3 Top-10 polls and Players of the Week, which were announced by the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday morning.
Shaler stays on top, followed by North Allegheny, Seneca Valley, Norwin, and Penn-Trafford, making up the top five.
In Class 2A, Mars remains at No. 1, while Ambridge, 2-0 in Section 1 and 2-1 overall, jumped to the second position.
The Bridgers defeated North Catholic, which was at No. 3 this week, with a 3-2 win in a crucial early season section matchup last Wednesday.
Latrobe dropped to No. 4, and Gateway moved up to complete this week’s top five in Class 2A.
Because of the Eastern holiday, no tournaments were held on Saturday, but four tournaments involving WPIAL teams will take place this weekend.
Peters Township, Seneca Valley, and Derry will host events on Saturday, while Northeastern High School in York County will also be the location for tournament action.
Every WPIAL boys volleyball coach has the chance to vote for the top-10 polls each week.
The players of the week are chosen based on nominations submitted by coaches.
