One person passed away following a shooting in northeast Denver on Saturday night.
At 6:54 p.m. on Saturday, a shooting occurred in the 2900 block of Gilpin Street in Denver’s Whittier neighborhood. Police were alerted by a gunshot detection device in the area, according to Technician Katherine McCandless, a spokeswoman for the Denver Police Department.
The police department reported that officers discovered a man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital and later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been released by the Denver Medical Examiner’s office, as family notification is pending.
As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made, according to McCandless.
According to McCandless, the shooting did not take place at the nearby Fuller Dog Park. She added that further details about the location of the shooting were not available at the time.
