The Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce plans to have the initial gathering of its young professionals group, aiming to involve the upcoming business leaders.
Chamber President Dan DeBone stated, “We want to establish a supportive community where young professionals can learn from each other and their peers, and also create clear and effective communication channels.”
The first session of the group will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. It will feature a discussion with the Westmoreland County Transit Authority to assess and gather feedback from the business community on the authority’s long-term comprehensive transportation plan.
The official name for the young professionals group is Westmoreland FUEL, derived from the group’s focus on: focus, unite, engage and lead.
FUEL President and Westmoreland Country Club property controller Ali Zorzi expressed, “Growing up in Westmoreland and now as an active young professional within our country, it’s critical that our opinions, suggestions and input are listened to, valued and acted upon to drive change and refresh our population. It’s also vital that our current and future generations of professionals receive more information about career opportunities and learn more about the excellent attractions and communities that could attract more young professionals to live, grow and thrive in the region.”
The Young Professionals group is set to organize a series of roundtable discussions, starting on April 3, with the region’s business leaders, local officials, nonprofits and community groups.
The meeting will be held at the chamber office, 241 Tollgate Hill Road in Greensburg, and the group is looking for new members.
