Tattered Cover parent company puts Denver bookstore chain up for sale

The Tattered Cover bookstore has announced that it is for sale, along with its merchandise.

The Tattered Cover bookstore has announced that it is for sale, along with its merchandise.

Bended Page LLC, which owns and operates the Tattered Cover Book Store, requested the court on Friday to delay an upcoming bankruptcy reorganization. bankruptcy reorganization hearing so the company could respond to potential buyers, according to a Friday news release from Tattered Cover.

While the store did not name the interested buyers that had already reached out, the company is in discussions with multiple individuals and businesses across the country, the release stated.

The store also “expects additional interest from other potential buyers as word spreads that Colorado’s iconic independent bookstore is open to being acquired,” the release stated.

Bended Page’s board of directors decided last week that selling Tattered Cover to a qualified, committed new owner was in the best long-term interests of the company, investors, employees, suppliers and Colorado’s literary community, according to Tattered Cover’s release.
