Biden’s event at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Thursday raised $25 million and featured appearances from Late Show host Stephen Colbert, “body positivity” singer Lizzo, and actress Mindy Kaling.
President Biden faced criticism from conservatives over his decision to continue with the event following the murder of 31-year-old NYPD officer Jonathan Diller on Monday.
“There are scores of NYPD officers unable to pay respects to their fallen brother tonight because they’re working security in the rain for Joe Biden’s $25 million fundraiser,” tweeted Spectator contributing editor Chadwick Moore.
Former President Donald Trump attended Diller’s wake on Thursday and told Fox News that Biden “didn’t even call the family.”
